Artesia is a hybrid sanctuary:
It is an agricultural-amphitheatre, where foods such as taro, sweet potatoes, strawberries, watermelons, herbs and tropical flowers grow. The ponds, when fully functional, will support aqua-culture.
It is the vision of owner Jim Channon to use this magnificent sanctuary as a community gathering spot.
FOUR SEASONS THEATRE

An inspired and benevolent group of space gypsies from North Kohala have banded together to create a season of four playful and entertaining experiences at Artesia.
The
dates of these events are:
Saturday, December 22, 2001
Saturday, March 23, 2002
Sunday, June 23, 2002
Saturday, September 21, 2002
Story-tellers, musicians, dancers, troubadors will fill the bill at each of these events.
Singer /songwriter Miles Wakefield, pictured in photo with Melinda Moore, is one of many such talents.

Each of the events is scheduled to coincide with the solstice and equinox times of the year. The themes for each season will be:
Winter - Big Island Mixed Plate
Spring - Trans Performational Games
Summer - Renaissance Festival
Fall - Theatre Performance
The
creative process will remain alive and open with the goal of
incubating new and creative movements in our community.
The Artesia gardens are maintained by Master Gardener Michael McCullough and assistant Andy Elmer.
