FALL EQUINOX AT ARTESIA Autumn Playhouse
Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002
Thespians from all over North Kohala put together an unforgettable night of entertainment. We were treated to performances that were filled with culture, history, spiritual insight and "plenty" humor.
before taking the stage....
"The Battle of Ni'ihau" begins

Richard Esterle uses a dramatic shadow play technique. With the help of friends Rosalind and Alexander, he tells his tale of being lost at sea for 9 hours in Soul Revision:
"Death in the Belly of a Pelagic Shark"

Brooke Channon, super star from San Fransisco, leaves the crowd in stiches as she gives us all some bathroom humor and reminds us that sometimes you just have to go.
(If anyone has a picture of this performance, please email to: nmi@aloha.net!)
Amalia Camateros fires everyone's imagination with her sensual earth dance

Next, Lisa Lovebucket and Todd Wolinsky take the stage and confuse themselves and others in
"Conversations with Todd"

Lisa scores an A on her paper, falls in love with Todd and makes her debut in the babe band
Rubie Blue!

The band does a mean rendition of
"Wild Thing" in honor of Todd

The show goes on with an appearance by Ted Koppel who offers a friendly roast to our birthday boy, Jim Channon.

A Jim Channon imposter appears and we are left to wonder... where did she get that jumpsuit?

Before the night is done, old man Channon himself talks story about bringing life to life!

Miles Wakefield rocked the dance floor to end our first season at Artesia.
Thanks to everyone who made it such a success!
And join us for our next event

3:00 - 9:00 pm
GALACTIC PILGRIMAGE
Come play with your friends at the sacred picnic grounds and cosmic night club that is Artesia. You are invited to come dressed in costume, reflecting the theme of Gods and Goddesses,(or anything that amuses you!)
We shall begin the event with starters in the lilting soft music department. The first course will be a self-organizing team experience that has everyone in the role of a creating the constellations in our galaxy.
Working from a base of cosmic relationships we'll add some story-telling mythology then allow a creative array of saucy delights to bubble up naturally from the players (namely improv). The constellations then come on stage with their skits and some fun with the audience.
The next course is your own picnic basket as you settle into the arena. Please bring a dessert to share with others at intermission.
For those who are always fashionably late ... just start with the picnic. The afternoon will slowly slide into the customary local show experience with singers, many dancers, players, and storytellers leading the way.
They will be drizzled on a bed of conviviality and mirth as the folk in the galleries go mad with socially ardent exchange. Please be kind to those on stage since one day they surely will be you!
Finally, we will share dessert under the banyan with some sexy dance music and then watch as the stars tease the clouds in a final sappy rite of spring. As usual the money goes to the upkeep, parking service, amenities, and technical support.
ENTRANCE..... $10 donation. Adults and children welcomed. Please no dogs.
FOOD... Bring your own picnic, drinks and ground cloth. If you're really inspired bring a dessert to share at intermission. We will have coffee.
REHEARSALS AND SET-UP If you feel you need special lighting or mics and need to get used to the stage, come have brunch with the production staff at 11:00 am, Saturday 22 March at Artesia
PARKING.....Please help us with parking! Car pooling really appreciated. There is plenty of capacity for parking at neighbor Don Watson's if done properly. The idea is to make an L so that cars can continue also park on the makai area of the lawn. Please do not park on the road. If our lot is full, there is space by the transfer station, as long as access to disposal area is not blocked.
